“And the Word became flesh
and made his dwelling among us,
and we saw his glory,
the glory as of the Father’s only Son,
full of grace and truth.” – John 1:14
I wish to thank all of you who have chosen to journey with me through this Advent season. May the blessings of this journey bring you closer to the Lord whose birth we celebrate.
This is my most favorite celebration of the church’s year. For it is a celebration of what is called, theologically, the “Incarnation”. This is a celebration of God’s choice to become one like us. I believe that this was God’s “plan A”, not “plan B”. “God created man in his image; in the divine image he created him; male and female he created them…And so it happened. God looked at everything he had made, and he found it very good.” (Gen 1:27,30b-31)
So, we are good! We are beautiful! We are the image of God – the Word made flesh – male and female. And God “pitched his tent” among us to be one with us and to guide us along the way. The story begins today with the birth of the Christ. It is filled with hope and excitement! It is the birth of Christ in our hearts, where God “pitches” his tent and dwells within us. Our journey is to discover the God who is already present within each of our hearts. Merry Christmas!
