Advent Reflection – Day 18

And Jesus said to them in reply,
“Go and tell John what you have seen and heard:
the blind regain their sight,
the lame walk,
lepers are cleansed,
the deaf hear, the dead are raised,
the poor have the good news proclaimed to them.” – Lk 7:22

We have all heard the phrase, “Actions speak louder than words.”  How would you be described by other if they were to use our actions?  What phrases would our friends use?  What would our family say?  They shall know who we are by our actions.

The other side of this, of course, is our intentions.  And, I suspect, if you’re like me,  our intentions, though noble and good, are not always what we do.  This is our challenge each day – to put into practice what we believe or what our intentions call us to do.  As most things, I believe it calls us to start with small, definable steps.  Something that we are able to do – today, not tomorrow or next week.  This is where it begins – step by step.

I give thanks today that Jesus was the kind of person who not only had good intentions, but actually put them into practice.  May we follow his lead and put into practice our faith and belief in what we do today.
